Description

Gambling is the act of wagering or betting money or something of value on an event with an uncertain outcome with the intent to win more money or things of value than was wagered. Gambling involves risking something of value, including money, for the chance of winning more than you risked. The activity of risking money on the result of something, such as a game or horse race, hoping to make money is considered to be addictive and simultaneously destructive for the average player.

In Cyprus gambling is understood through the prism of a specific range of activities involving chance or entailing a combination of elements of chance and skill. These activities are classified into three main clusters by reference to the existing gambling legislative framework; betting, gaming and lotteries.

The specific ‘sport’ has been set under strict regulatory observatory, thus there are a series of Legislations in place such as The Lotteries Law 1983, Casino Gambling, Betting Law 2012. Nevertheless, the problem focusing on the ‘player’ himself has not been approached, thus the relevant Regulatory body, the National Betting Authority proceeded with the drafting of the Safer Gambling Strategy for the period 2022–2025, ensuring the protection of players and society, while harnessing the social and economic benefits arising from the gambling sector.

In this course we at Neorama Education would like to provide the necessary knowledge and training to prevent misuse of the Gambling Sector, both from illicit activity from criminals but also protecting abuse by addicted ‘players’ thus ensuring safe gambling and at the same time safeguarding the interests of the gambling institutions from potential risks and regulatory fines, providing professional
certifications for audit.
